Breakfast is usually served between 5:30am and 7am. We work on a rotational basis to offer every guest the chance to enjoy breakfast in the catio or on a window sill with a view. Guests staying in our exclusive accommodation styles will have the luxury of an alfresco breakfast every morning if they choose.
While guests are enjoying their breakfast, we sometimes enjoy our morning coffee at the same time in the same space, sharing our love between guests and different accommodation types.
We also take this opportunity to refresh water dishes and spot clean debris from litter trays.
Once guests have polished off their breakfast, we work on a rotational basis to offer lots of stretching of legs with time in the catio and/or Farmhouse Room (for guests staying in our Farmhouse Room). For guests staying in our exclusive accommodation, stretching of the legs and exploring is on offer 24/7.
It’s while guests are exploring, stretching, pouncing, playing and rolling about we give each suite a thorough clean, remove litter tray debris and replace with fresh litter, wipe down all surfaces of stray hairs and little paw prints, plump up bedding or air out bedding brought from home, dust off baskets and record bowel / bladder movements on individual suite sheets.
We also remove spoiled or spilled food and clean all dishes.
This process is thorough, we pride ourselves on cleanliness, after all, the hotel is within our home… so we make sure there are no nasty smells or surprises and have everything squeaky clean for guests to return to for their mid morning nap.
We offer transfers from Federal at 9:30am and 4:30pm around the Black Mountain Landslide Monday-Friday and 9:30am of a Saturday. Preparation for these includes gathering of departing guest belongings and loading into their carrier ready for our 15min trip down the mountain.
As a welcome to the hotel, we like to offer new arrivals a chance to enjoy the catio first up, taking in the sights and sounds of the paddock and getting to know the place. We then settle new guests into their suite/accommodation and label all belongings + store carriers. We closely monitor new arrivals and ensure all needs are met.
If there are no guests to welcome, we offer a mid morning catio session to those who aren’t already snoozing to digest breakfast.
We offer a lunch service to guests who require more than two feeds per day. This is also a great opportunity to top up dry food for guests who are allowed to graze all day, refresh water and remove debris from litter trays again.
Behind the scenes, we are removing rubbish, cleaning dishes, defrosting dinners and organising guest arrivals/departures over lunch. Other times, we are enjoying our lunch with a guest too, sitting in the catio or one of our exclusive accommodations munching away!
For guests who aren’t fussed on lunch or who aren’t already settling in for a snooze within their suite, we offer more time in the catio or Farmhouse Room (or both!).
Some guests prefer to curl up in the privacy of their suite, in which case, we try our best not to disturb.
Each session is guided by the guest in terms of time, however we are very mindful of every guest having time to explore or snooze in the sun.
It‘s usually around 3pm guests like to wake from their midday naps and zoom around the place, so we facilitate just that!
Catio time is again on offer on a rotational basis, with thorough record of who has been out and when, so everyone has a turn. It’s rare to see all guests awake and ready to zoom at once, so this makes our job a little easier.
We again take this chance to interact with each guest while also checking on water levels in dishes and dry food levels for those who like to graze. We again remove debris from litter trays and give surfaces a wipe down in preparation for dinner service.

When not settling a new guest into the hotel, sundown sessions in the catio are a lovely opportunity for guests to observe our resident chickens toddle off to bed and roll about in warm afternoon sunlight before indulging in dinner. Some guests prefer to sit and watch the passing paddock parade, while others burn off energy after an afternoon nap and play.
A lot of our photos are taken during sundown sessions as this is when guests are most relaxed and lighting is just right, no different to happy hour while on human holidays!
Dinner is prepared and served while also offering guests an alfresco meal in the catio on a rotational basis.
This is also our opportunity to again check water dishes and refill, clean debris from litter trays and generally prepare suites for bed time.
Newly introduced, we regularly offer night time catio sessions for guests who are still keen to move about the hotel after dinner. While some guests are content to curl up and call it a night, others want to investigate sounds, smells, sights in the distance and feel the night air on their little whiskers. We offer night time catio sessions on a rotational basis, but make sure all guests have the chance to experience these and show us how they do ‘zoomies’!
